special message to recruitment agencies
Over the years we've been bombarded with calls from recruitment agencies, and whilst we appreciate that you guys need to earn a crust, we do well enough in search engines to not need your services. Thanks for your interest though!

“I have news for the forces of greed and the defenders of the Status Quo; your time has come and gone.”

speculative applications

Whilst we actively discourage speculative postal and email applications (especially CV attachments!), we do like receiving links to portfolio sites. If you send through a brief email to join [dot] us [at] nameless [dot] co [dot] uk with a link to your site then we guarantee that we will take the time to visit. Please note that recruitment related emails sent to any other address are automatically junked, so use the above address to infinitely improve your chances of being considered!

For speculative applications, we operate on a "don't call us, we'll call you" policy, primarily because we get so many applications through every day, so please accept our apologies if we are unable to confirm the receipt of your message.

Please make sure you check the job descriptions below before sending anything through, as even with speculative applications, it pays to know how well you fit with what we expect for each role.

deep sea divers (business developers with solid digital agency experience)

Every business knows what they want from a business developer; bring in exciting jobs, keep clients happy and not be afraid to reach outside of your comfort zone. That should be a given. However qualifications, track records, targets and commissions aside, at nameless we have our own special expectations of you.

Firstly you need imagination and passion. If you're knowledgeable and excited about the technology and the possibilities then the sky is the limit. Secondly, you need integrity - we don't want a hunter-stalker or a wide-boy/girl, we want an evangelist with their soul intact, a deep-sea-diver with the courage to jump into waters unknown, the tenacity to keep diving for treasure and the common sense to come up for air on a regular basis. But most importantly we want you to be a team player. We won't place caps on your commission because your success is our success too, but we do expect that you will do your utmost to sell the best solution and that will involve working with our production team rather than working solo.

If you think you're up to the job then get in touch with your c.v. to join [dot] us [at] nameless [dot] co [dot] uk with "I know my oysters from my clams" in the subject line...

useful links in digital media

We know that it's tough out there, especially for young talent just starting out in the digital media industry. If you want to tune in to what is going on in the South West in interactive media, here are a few links:

Bristol Skillswap is a brilliant way to improve your web skills and meet some lovely people at the same time. Set up and run by passionate and knowledgeable people, you'll find plenty of friendly advice within this group and you'll definitely come out of these events knowing more than when you went in.

South West Screen is the film, television and digital media agency for the South West of England, which supports our industry through the provision of training, funding and information. It's funded by the UK Film Council and SWRDA and is a good place to start if you want to find out about what is happening in the region. They also organise placements for people trying to enter digital media and broadcast related careers.

Bristol Media is a group for media luvvies like us. Well actually of all flavours - from digital through to the regular kind you find on the telly. Not surprisingly it's based in Bristol but it also has a website for those of you looking for job opportunities, courses and Bristol-based booze evenings. It's their job to promote talent in the city to the outside world so if you're talented then become a member and get promoted!

And if you really want to get up close and personal with the Interactive Media community, you could do worse than join the under-score mailing list. It's 80% random chatter with 20% industry related stuff including job adverts. If you want feedback for a website you've created, this is the place to do it - but there's a warning attached: it's not for the faint-hearted or the deluded!
